I came across this excellent post by David Perel over at Design Shard entitled “Get More Traffic with Good Web Design”.
It explains how some excellent design skills, coupled with some marketing know-how (i.e. submitting the design to web design galleries), can really get some awesome traffic results.
Check out their post…and maybe you’ll get some ideas for your own site as well as some SEO tips.

I know there’s a big debate whether to use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Fireworks to layout your web design.
I can’t really say that one’s better than the other. Personally, I love using Illustrator. It’s been good to me.
As I was stumbling, I came across this interesting tutorial on VectorTuts entitled “Use Adobe Illustrator to Create a Clean Website Layout”.
It’s broken up into 22 easy to follow steps to create a clean website layout. And while you’re there I recommend you subscribe to their RSS feed as their are an excellent web design resource.

I’m not exactly the best when it comes to creating Flash websites. I find it to be very tedious. But I think that they are some of the coolest sites on the ‘net (when done properly).
Many clients that I talk to also think that flash is really cool and want their sites to be “flashy”. So I’ve had to find a way to create nice flash sites.
Now, I’ve seen many so-called “easy flash website creators” on the web, but have observed that that most of ‘em produce some of the crappiest stuff ever.
But now there’s Wix.
I’ve got to admit that this is one awesome tool. In fact, it’s really easy and fun to use. It’s almost too simple. Just drag ‘n drop.
They have some great templates that you can use to get your creative juices flowin’, or you can design a site from scratch. You can add widgets like calendars, google maps, clocks, and such.
And best of all…It’s Free! (You can upgrade to a premium account if you want to remove the Wix logo.)
I suggest you go check it out. Let me know what you think.
